Belmar Therapy strives to be the leading, boutique provider of speech-language therapy in the Rio Grande Valley including Albuquerque, Los Lunas, and Rio Rancho. We use evidence-based practices and time-tested techniques.
Our clinic was founded in 2020. Our mission is to provide high-quality speech therapy to children and young adults. But our work doesn’t stop there. We also want to positively influence our communities through advocacy, participation, and job creation. And finally, we try to be good caretakers and consumers of the scarce resources available to us.
Our Therapy Mission
Belmar Therapy was born out of the idea of helping people to participate in activities that they find meaningful. We create spaces where children and families can get therapy that improves their communication skills while feeling accepted, encouraged, and motivated to participate in things they enjoy.
To do this, we get to know children as individuals and as members of their family.
- Does your son love finding sticks to use as swords when you take a family-walk along the Bosque? We can tie that into our therapy through imaginative play.
- Maybe your daughter enjoys playing at one of our many beautiful parks across Albuquerque; we can try to schedule our sessions in a space where the therapist can use movement to encourage speech and language development.
- If going to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, roasting green chile, or making a ristra is an important family tradition, we can practice speech therapy skills while also learning how to participate in a meaningful family activity.
The point is, we want to teach your child skills they can use beyond the therapy room. We don’t want them to be left out! We want them to make friends, have fun with their families, and chase their dreams.
Our Social Mission
In addition to providing therapy, our clinic has other roles to play in the Albuquerque area. This includes advocating for the unmet communication and swallowing needs of the public, participation in the process of community, and creation of good-paying jobs.
As a business, we employ speech therapists and office staff at competitive wages. We also mentor students from New Mexican universities; this ensures we have professionals close to home for future generations.
We participate in events across Albuquerque and the Rio Grande Valley to raise awareness about differences and disabilities.
Our Economic Mission
Economics is not the science of money; it is the science of what happens where there isn’t enough of something. Belmar Therapy recognizes that the resources we provide and consume are in short supply. We want to operate on a sustainable financial and environmental basis.
As providers, this means making sure anyone who needs speech therapy can get it. We do this by offering free screenings and accepting Medicaid insurance plans while still paying competitive wages to staff. We reduce costs by scheduling at times convenient for families like after school and on Saturdays.
As consumers, this means making sure that we buy resources from ethical and sustainable sources – from recycled copy paper to green electricity for our website.

There are no cookie cutter answers here. Every client is their own person who deserves personally designed speech therapy. We want to provide that personalization while also improving our entire community.
